AUTO 1000 - SURVEY of AUTO TECHNOLOGY (UVU) An introductory course for those interested in Automotive Technology. Presents basic automotive repair lessons on ignition and fuel systems, brakes, CV joints, and emissions for state inspections. Discusses electrical accessories, computerized engine controls, and chassis components.
AUTO 1130 - ENGINE REPAIR (UVU) Offers an in-depth study of design, operation, troubleshooting, and service procedures for modern gasoline and diesel engines. Presents procedures for disassembly and reassembly of engine units, service, and technical data.
1.0 Elective Credit required from the following:
WELDING TECHNICIAN, ENTRY LEVEL (1.0 credit) Students will learn basic welding skills that will prepare them to apply technical knowledge and skill in the workplace and in project construction. Students will learn and practice knowledge, attitude, skills, and habits required for performing tasks autonomously, including the selection and use of appropriate techniques and equipment with minimum supervision.
MACHINING 1 (1.5 Credit) This course is the first in a sequence that will use technical knowledge and skills to plan and manufacture projects using machine lathes, mills, drill presses, and other equipment in safe working conditions to promote the manufacturing industries.
INTERNSHIP IN RELATED FIELD (.5 credit) CTE Internships provide on the job training opportunities that are directly related to a career goal and course of study identified through the College and Career Ready Plan. This Work-Based Learning experience is designed to bridge the gap between school and work. Appropriate supervision by a school/district coordinator must be maintained.
