BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS(1.0 credit) Business Communication affects all aspects of our lives. This introductory course will teach students to communicate in a clear, courteous, concise, complete and correct manner on both the personal and professional levels. Competency will be developed in oral, written, interpersonal, technological, and employment communication. Listening skills will be incorporated throughout the year. The overriding goal is to provide students with a solid communication base, so they are able to communicate effectively.
BUSINESS OFFICE SPECIALIST (.5 credit) This course applies advanced concepts and principles using word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and electronic presentation software. Students will integrate applications learned.
WEB DEVELOPMENT 1 (.5 credit) This semester course provides students with an introduction to the Internet. Students will demonstrate a basic knowledge of the Internet and its tools through the use of e-mail, search engines and browsers. HTML and Web publishing software will be used to create, format, illustrate, design, edit, and publish Web pages. Emphasis will be placed on the application of the Internet in business.
DIGITAL GRAPHIC ARTS, INTRO (.5 credit) This course is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills related to the graphic design industry. It is intended to serve as a starting point for several pathways including Digital Media, Graphics and Printing, 3D Animation and Game Development. This includes instruction and hands-on assignments in the following areas: creative design & layout, typography, color, related software, and computer and professional skills.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP (.5 credit) Students will gain an understanding of the marketing and management principles necessary to start and operate their business. They will develop an awareness of the opportunities for small business ownership and develop the planning skills needed to open a small business.
INTERNSHIP IN RELATED FIELD (.5 credit) CTE Internships provide on the job training opportunities that are directly related to a career goal and course of study identified through the College and Career Ready Plan. This Work-Based Learning experience is designed to bridge the gap between school and work. Appropriate supervision by a school/district coordinator must be maintained.
